Run by the family that lives on it.
Cheshire Park is Rachel's family farm. Not a lifestyle project, not a weekend hobby — a working farm that happens to be built and run by people who are still figuring a lot of it out as they go.
We don't have a tidy origin story where everything was mapped out before the first animal arrived. Cheshire Park started the way most real farms do — with land, some stock, a lot of learning on the job, and decisions that got revisited more than once. What's here today is the result of that process, not a plan that was followed to the letter.
Rachel runs the day-to-day of the farm, with the rest of the family involved in the way family farms tend to work — everyone doing whatever the week actually needs, regardless of whose job it was supposed to be. Some days that's cattle work, some days it's fixing something that broke overnight, and some days it's genuinely just keeping the animals fed and the kids fed, in roughly that order of urgency.
We're building this in public, in a fairly literal sense — a lot of the farm's story gets told on Instagram as it happens, under the name The Clucking Farmer. This website is the more permanent version of that: less day-to-day, more considered, and built to still make sense as the farm itself changes.
Because the work is real, and that matters to us.
There's a version of farm life that gets presented as an aesthetic — curated, softly lit, always in season. That's not what this is. Cheshire Park is genuine agricultural work: early starts, hard decisions, the occasional expensive mistake, and animals that need attention regardless of how the rest of the day is going. We find that more interesting than the polished version, and we think it's more honest too.
A farm brand, not a single product.
We think of Cheshire Park as the constant, and everything underneath it — cattle, sheep, poultry, whatever comes next — as things that can grow, shrink or change without the farm itself losing its identity. That's deliberate. We'd rather build something that can carry the farm through changes in direction than lock ourselves into one enterprise and call it done.
In practice, that means this website will grow slowly and honestly alongside the farm — more detail on the cattle program, more stories in the journal, and eventually, when there's something genuinely ready, a way to buy from us directly.
